According to the Head of Indonesian online transport service association (PPTJDI) Igun WIcaksono, the Asian Games 2018 event had affected the insignificant income of online ‘ojek’ (motorcycle taxis) drivers.
“There is no significant increase of income,” said Igun on Sunday, August 26.
Igun said that the motorcycle drivers had only felt a slight increase caused by the odd-even number plate policy introduced by the Jakarta Provincial Government, which has effectively driven many people to leave their personal vehicle behind and travel with online taxis.
According to Igun, the driver’s income is claimed to have improved by 20 percent which is not too significant especially considering that ojek online drivers would only manage to collect Rp100,000-Rp150,000 daily.
Managing Director of Grab Indonesia Ridzki Kramadibrata previously stated that the GrabBike and GrabCar services received several improvements during the 2018 asian Games opening ceremony night. Ridzki said that he does not order any specific goals regarding income during the Asian Games that is held in Jakarta and Palembang.
