President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received an honorary visit from the Czech Republic Senate delegation at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, September 17, 2018.
In his remarks, President Jokowi appreciated the arrival of Czech Republic delegates whom he called old friends. “Indonesia and the Czech Republic are old friends. The Czech Republic is one of the countries in Europe that first recognized Indonesia’s independence,” the President said.
During the meeting, the President also discussed the possibility of closer cooperation for the two countries in the future. “I am committed to continuing to promote cooperation with the Czech Republic in various fields, especially in the fields of trade and industry,” said the President.
After the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister A.M. Fachir, who accompanied the President, said that in the meeting the delegation of the Czech Republic also included entrepreneurs from their countries. “Therefore, the President said we have a commitment to improve economic cooperation with the Czech Republic,” said Fachir.
Fachir added, Indonesia also requested the Czech Republic’s support for palm oil products from Indonesia on the European market. Furthermore, several other things were also discussed by both parties such as exploring cooperation in the fields of energy, automotive industry, health insurance, and education.
