PLN holds tender for five FSRU projects

State-owned electricity company PLN has issued a call for tenders for the construction of five floating storage regasification units (FSRU).

The head of PLN’s fuel and gas division, Chairani Rachmatullah, said the tender process was expected to be completed early next year, with the hope that the projects can be completed between 2020 and 2021.

The five projects are the Central Indonesia LNG project, Bangka Belitung-Pontianak LNG project, Krueng Raya-Nias LNG project, Maluku-Papua PLG project and Gorontalo FSRU project.

The tender process had reached the final commercial proposal stage, with the prequalification process and technical proposal stages already having been completed, said Chairani, as reported by

While the Krueng Raya-Nias LNG project and the Gorontalo FSRU project are expected to be completed in 2020, the Central Indonesia LNG project, Bangka Belitung-Pontianak LNG project and the Maluku-Papua PLG project are expected to be completed in 2021, Chairani added.

The Central Indonesia LNG project consists of several items, including LNG carriers, an LNG storage and regasification facility as well as a jetty and gas piping project. The project will use the build, own, operate, transfer (BOOT) scheme with a 10-year contract period.

The projects are located in Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Nusa Tenggara and will supply gas to a number of power plants.

The Gorontalo FSRU project, which will use the operation and maintenance (O&M) scheme, consists of a floating storage and regasification unit (jetty/mooring) and a gas piping project, while the Maluku-Papua project will consist of three clusters in Ambon, LNG carrier construction and three LNG feeders.
