PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI) is still optimistic about the outlook for construction loan this year. This state-owned bank targets credit growth in this sector to grow double digit.
Rohan Rafas, Corporate Secretary of Bank Mandiri, said that his company is aiming for Rp. 40.5 trillion in lending in 2019. The company is quite optimistic in setting targets because of the government’s high development activities. “That is included in infrastructure projects.” he told Kontan.co.id on Wednesday (1/23).
In addition to the increasing factor in development activities, Bank Mandiri’s optimism in targeting credit distribution in the construction sector was also due to the improvement in the business situation.
Throughout 2018, Bank Mandiri’s outstanding credit for construction was still well maintained where Non Performing Loans (NPLs) were around 2%. However, Rohan did not mention the realization of credit growth in this sector last year.
This year, Bank Mandiri targets a total loan portfolio growth of 11-13 percent. The growth of deposits is 11% -12%. While for credit quality, the bank is targeting a ratio of non-performing loans (NPLs) of 2.6% – 2.65%.
