Oil and gas are strategic development resources but are non-renewable natural resources. Therefore, the Oil and Gas Draft Law must be able to strengthen national energy resilience and independence.
This was conveyed by President Joko Widodo when leading a limited meeting to discuss the Oil and Gas Draft Low. The meeting was held at the President’s Office, Presidential Palace Complex Jakarta, Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
“The aim of the formation of the Oil and Gas Draft Low should not only encourage increased oil and gas production, but also support the strengthening of national capacity, strengthening the domestic industry, and investing our human resources in the oil and gas industry,” said the President.
At the beginning of his introduction, the President explained that the Oil and Gas Low Earth Draft was an initiative of the House of Representatives (DPR).
“We must study carefully, so that the draft law does not conflict with the constitution,” the President added.
In addition, the Head of State emphasized that the formation of this law will be a momentum for reforming oil and gas governance.
“So that it is more efficient, more transparent, less complicated, simpler, and can be sustainable and provide added value to our national economy,” said the President, as reported by the press release of the Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin. (BPMI / bas)
