Kalimantan will have a 6 km long over sea highway

PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk wants to build a toll road with a length of 6 kilometers (km) above the sea of Borneo.

Director of Waskita Karya I Gusti Ngurah Putra explained, the toll road will connect Balikpapan and Penajam in East Kalimantan. Both regions are separated by the sea. So far, access has only been used by ships.

“It is about 5-6 kilos meters in length,” he said when met by, during a working visit with BUMN Minister Rini Soemarno in Bekasi, West Java, Friday (1/25/2019).

Based on the provisional estimates, the costs needed for the construction of the toll road exceed Rp. 10 trillion.

“(The estimated value of the toll road project) is above Rp. 10 trillion,” he said.

Waskita Karya as the party that initiated the project hopes to get an appointment from the Ministry of PUPR as the BUJT working on the project.

“A large bridge will be made like Suramadu, underneath which the ship must still be able to pass,” he said. (zlf / zlf)
