The Bali Provincial Government along with tourism entrepreneurs will hold the Balingkang Kintamani Festival on the 6th of February. This festival is expected to boost the number of Chinese tourists visiting Chinese New Year holidays to the Island of the Gods.
The event was held to coincide with the moment of the Chinese New Year. Acculturation of Balinese and Chinese cultures in the era of the Balingkang Kingdom will be packaged nicely by taking the background of Batur Temple, Kintamani.
“So this (culture), one of the tools that we use,” said Deputy Governor of Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati, in Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday (1/30/2019).
The history of the relationship between Bali and China has begun centuries ago, through a love triangle between Raja Jaya Pangus and Putri Kang Cing We, and Dewi Danu. This festival will package the romance in the form of a cultural parade to attract more tourists.
“We have to pack it so that people are enthusiastic about watching,” said Chairman of the Bali Tourism Board (BTB) IB Agung Partha Adnyana.
The Pura Batur area, which is a remnant of the Kingdom of Balingkang, will be a beautiful setting for Chinese tourists to enjoy. This Balingkang Kintamani Festival is expected to be the first step to revitalize the market of Chinese tourists in Bali who had previously experienced a decline due to the naughty practices of tour packages.
By targeting the Chinese tourist market, the committee will provide a Chinese-language tour guide to communicate the essence of the story. The committee will also promote using Chinese media and special social media such as WeChat and Weibo to Chinese influencers. Through this festival, it is hoped that Batur, Kintamani is known to be the most romantic area in the world. (bnl / fay)
